Armando had his hands full with the tour busses and front gate, so Carlene,
Rosanne and I were sitting up by the pool trying to get a better tan. Tara must
have been in the house with Dad and June. Cindy and Rosey were fishing off the
boat dock.
They'd been down there fishing a while, when all of a sudden, we heard this
horrible screaming. The first thing we thought of was a snake. Rosanne, Carlene
and I sprinted to the dock yelling, "we're coming...what is it?"
Cindy kept yelling, "GET DADDY...QUICK...GET DADDY!"
I took a quick detour to get on the outside intercom and yell for Dad to
come..."emergency...DADDY!!Boat dock!"
Then I ran as fast as I could. When I got to the dock, Rosanne, Carlene and
Cindy were huddling around Rosey while she was screaming at the top of her
lungs."MOVE OVER!! what happened?!!"
here come Dad and June as fast as they could. Bodies parted, and there was Rosey
sitting on the dock with a big 3 hook lure sticking out of her nose, still
holding her fishing pole.
All of us girls were screaming, June was panicking, and Rosey was hysterical.
The more we
screamed, the more she squealed.
Dad loudly said, "Okay Girls, Stop...you're making it worse. This is not as
bad as it looks.
O.J. (that's what he called Rosey)Hold still."
June said, "John, we need to call the ambulance."
Dad..."no we don't, someone hand me my tackle box."
One of us handed him his tackle box and he quickly found the wire cutters.
YIKES.....everyone started freaking out.
Dad, "Okay...whoever is going to make noise, go on up to the house. I need
my hands to be steady."
O.J....close your eyes and be still."
We all stood there with our hands over our mouths mostly to keep any noise from
coming out.
Dad took the wire cutters, snipped all 3 protruding hooks out of the top of her
nose, and slid the hook out quickly.
Rosey opened her eyes, thankful to be free of her hook and pole, and with tears
running down her face said, "thank you John. My nose hurts so bad, I was
scared to death."
dad said, "it's okay honey. I think you need a few more pointers on casting
your line. Now, come on and get cleaned up."
Our little "parade" started climbing the stone steps up to the house
from the dock. Dad was leading the way, carrying his tackle box. He turned
around and said, "O.J., I think you win the prize for the biggest CATCH off
this dock."
