| Dad
had a fork to his mouth and June said, "John, honey...let's move this
table and these chairs to a better eating spot." Dad looked at her like she had lost her mind. Dad:"Um...baby, can I wait til I finish eating?" June:"That spot over there is a better eating place." Dad: "My food doesn't care, and my stomach doesn't want to wait. We'll do it in a minute, okay?" He could tell she was impatient and didn't like that answer, but she said nothing. Dad sat there a minute and said, "okay...where are we going June?" She got excited and called all the women from the house out to help move all the furniture. Dad got up, held his plate and fork, and let them do their thing. When all the furniture was where she wanted it, he politely sat down and said, "yep, this is much better." (then he winked at me and rolled his eyes like he had no idea why she did that.) Little things just never got to him. it had to be REALLY big for him to say something. June loved detail....every little detail. No matter where they sat or ate, it had to always be silver, crystal, tea cups/ saucers and china WITH a linen tablecloth and linen napkins. When dad and I went to the farm, it was paper plates, diet coke bottles, paper towels and mugs. She was so appreciative of fine things. |
